Antidotes for Medications on the NCLEX

Here is a list of medications and their antidotes that would be more commonly seen on the NCLEX.

Medication : Antidote

  • acetaminophen : acetylcysteine
  • heparin : protamine sulfate
  • warfarin : vitamin K
  • opioids/morphine : naloxone
  • digoxin : dig immune fab
  • magnesium sulfate : calcium gluconate
  • benzodiazepines : flumazenil
    • benzos are sedatives like: diazepam, alprazolam
  • anticholinergics : physostigmine
    • anticholinergics are meds that treat:
      • overactive bladder like oxybutynin
      • COPD like triotropium
      • Parkinson’s like trihexyphenidyl
